Biography
Nick is a highly experienced claimant employment lawyer with more than 16 years focused exclusively on employment and discrimination law. He is known for combining sharp strategic judgement with an ability to see the human reality behind a dispute, particularly where a client’s career, health or reputation is at stake.
His practice centres on complex, high-value disputes involving disability discrimination, sexual harassment, contractual rights and restrictive covenants. He regularly advises senior individuals across finance, law, technology and pharmaceuticals, often in cases where the legal issues are closely tied to significant remuneration, benefits or future career prospects.
Nick has secured substantial outcomes for clients across a wide range of circumstances. Recent results include an £820,000 pre-issue settlement for a senior trader with a terminal condition in a disability and breach of contract claim against a global bank; settlements of more than £1 million each for a CEO, CFO and CMO arising from their exits during a major pharmaceutical M&A; and a mid-trial settlement for a teacher in a long-running reasonable adjustments claim, covering losses through to retirement plus costs. He has also successfully helped a partner leave a property development business, establish a competing venture and retain a client worth £1.6 million despite restrictive covenants.
His standing in the profession is reflected in consistent recognition from Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, including as a Leading Associate and Star Associate. Market feedback has described Nick as “a formidable solicitor in the employment space” with “exceptional judgment”, while others have highlighted his negotiation skills, creativity and ability to secure strong settlements.
Nick’s approach to law was shaped early in his career by working in legal aid, supporting people facing issues including domestic violence, homelessness and child contact disputes. It gave him an enduring understanding of how profoundly legal problems can affect someone’s wider life. He remains particularly passionate about disability rights and has also volunteered as a dementia befriender and homeless support worker.
